Arcade and Computer Games Meet

There are many arcade games out on the Internet that kids the age of 6 to 8 years old can play. There are some that are violent so we have chosen not to review those. Kids get so much violence from other influences; we are not supporting that position. The games we ranked were challenging but still could be won if the child had enough hand-eye coordination. Try to encourage them as they play so that they will not get discouraged and quit. Remaining positive is always better for their young growing minds. So let them play the games as we think that games do have a place in a growing child’s realm. They teach so many skills that the child will need in their grown-up lives. There are other ways to teach this same skill, but children seem to learn faster and with less grumbling if they enjoy the method.

The most relaxing and stress free game was Yuniti while the Mini Gallery was the most stressful of all the games we reviewed. Seeing Santa plastered on the snow was funny and while he slid down the ravine he said weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Yuniti is a great hand, eye coordination game and it is very relaxing. The child between 4 and 8 can easily play this game. It lasts as long as you can keep the balls from hitting the ground. Even an adult could get to love this addicting game as it is so relaxing. You have a green ball that you are in control of with your arrow keys. When a blue ball floats downward, you bump it with the green ball so that it will go up again. It seems quit tame at first, then, more balls start falling. Within 40 seconds you may have at least 3 or 4 balls falling around the same time. The longer your score time is the better you are at it.

After Glow is a game where you are guiding your ship through several levels while collecting orbs. You must complete each level in the shortest possible amount of time. The levels are based around time and separated into easy mode, medium and hard mode which leaves insane mode for those who have conquered the game. Your score is based on how long it takes you to maneuver through the obstacles. If you accidentally hit the wall you are penalized. The harder you hit a wall the more penalties the game will give you. It is definitely a game of hand and eye coordination and learning to use those arrow keys ceee! This game does take some skills so a child of 6 to 8 could probably learn to play this game.

Mini Gallery is another arcade game that probably a 6 year old to 8 year old would want to play. You have a basket where you want to catch the “good” eggs that are falling from the sky. There are also “bad” eggs falling and you sure do not want those eggs in your basket. If you get a full basket of good eggs, then you click the mouse and cook them. Even on the easy mode, this game was quit challenging as some of the eggs looked good as they were falling, but at the last moment, they cracked open! A child needs to have great hand eye coordination as well as the ability to tell a good egg from a bad egg. This is a short lived game if you cannot maneuver the mouse and differentiate between the good and the bad eggs.

The Principles of Small Business Online Marketing

Many people view online business as being something totally different than the old style small business that existed in the pre-internet days. This can be a serious mistake. The truth is that the general principles of business have not changed. They remain the same regardless of the vast amount of technology that is now available to us. It has always been important to generate traffic, for example. The need for advertising and the necessity of making it easy for your customers to spend their money with you are just as vital to the online business as to the little country store of 50 years ago.

Professional web designers are aware of this important fact. It is their job to adapt these time honored business principles to the technology that has opened up a new and global market place. In the old days, one of the important principles of small business was expressed as location, location, location! On the internet, location is expressed as search engine ranking.

The problem with the internet is its vast size. The number of websites is mind boggling, and if your company is providing a specific service in a specific location, its site will be lost in that immensity unless you can direct customers to it. For example, if you are running a mortgage company in Utah, a Utah web design will be necessary. It will not help you much to have people in China viewing your website. The idea of proper Utah internet marketing and mortgage website marketing will be to direct customers to your site that are both in and near Utah and interested in mortgages.

The search engine is the device that provides this direction. It is a process known as SEO, or search engine optimization that allows the major search engines to find and rank your companies site. SEO is the advertising mode of the online business. The method is different and new, but the principle has remained constant.

The need to ease the customers’ way to spend their money is a function of proper web design also. This idea is known as being “user friendly.” The website becomes your sales force. It must act as a salesman would act by answering questions, directing customers to the right products, and closing the sale. The well trained salesman could increase sales in the old style business and it the same way a properly designed website can do the same thing. Once again, the principle has remained the same. It is only the method of applying the principles that has changed.

Train Your Brain With Action Games and Fighting Games

Maybe you’ve heard that playing video games will rot your brain or lead to other negative consequences. While sitting in front of the screen for hours a day may take time away from other positive activities, the mental stimulation of game playing has proven benefits. Action games, fighting games and other fast-paced adventures can actually help your brain.

Studies have shown that playing action games can improve sharpness of vision, accuracy, alertness and response times. One study showed that gamers made accurate decisions 25% more quickly than those who don’t play. Oddly enough, fighting games and shooters have demonstrated more positive effects than strategy based games. The fast action provides a high level of stimulation that keeps the brain active and engaged. The ability to focus on a task at hand while ignoring distractions is enhanced by playing these types of games.

It has long been known that puzzles and games are good for aging individuals, with the benefits of improving mental fitness and reducing the cognitive decline of old age. Contrary to popular opinion, research suggests that video action games may be more effective than the old-fashioned crossword puzzle or card game. Maybe it’s time to pit Grandma and Grandpa against each other in a fighting game!

Gamers will be happy to hear that these effects increase with the amount of gaming. That is, the more time you spend playing video games, the more of these benefits you will see. Of course, it is still important to act with moderation. Too much time in the virtual world can result in neglecting things like work, school, family or physical activity.

So, do you need to drop hundreds of dollars on expensive game consoles or computer software? That is certainly an option. However, as the old saying goes, sometimes the best things are free.
